The selection will be done twice. Those who passed the first round go to the second round. Is this explanation understandable?

You can say "it will help greatly" instead

How about "it would be very much helpful"?
Maybe "it would be a great help" would be better?
I'm asking this because I want to emphasize the importance of that letter.

i think "very much helpful" is okay but I don't say it personally.

you could say "it would be extremely helpful" to really emphasize it
