I tk cultural background may had an effect on this. Old generations had strong stereotype that writing or eating with left hand is wrong (or could be seen as rude)

In this environment, many natural born left-handers were forcibly reformed as right-handers in their infancy.

As a result, the number of left-handed would have decreased.

But nowadays(from '80s) people become very rational, and we no longer believe in these myths. So, the number of left-handed people will increase gradually. I hope.
