Pretty much, just a 'the' needed, a plural one fixed to singular form and also a present tense mistake.
"Using a smartphone in the bed is disturbing your sleep because the bright ligbt from the screen wakes you up."
Your sentence could work if you just added s to your smartphone like "Using smartphones in the bed are disturbing your sleep" this is correct but it says that you use more than one smartphone which migh5 be confusing. To make things flow better add 'the' before a noun if it doesn't have an 'a' already before it. Of course.you can go " because a bright light from the screen wakes you" and it would make sense but this makes it feels like a bright light that you didn't know of just appeared like a firefly or streetlights or maybe someone elses lights but not yours. When you say "the bright.light " we get the idea that it is a bright light you're familiar.with. And last one is just a present tense mistake. If you start with a certain tense you have to alsways stick to that tense in most written forms like essays, storywriting, letters, emails and the like. So you started with the present tense with 'using', therefore every other verb has to be in present tense or else it won't make sense what the person is speaking about is it about his/her past? is she/he talkibg about what he/she's doing now? is it her/his future aspirations? For this one though, it's hard to change it to past tense without involving a person into the sentence like "The smartphone Jeff was using in bed was disturbing her because the bright light from the screen woke her up".
so yeah sorry for the long answer but just on a final note it will sound smoother if it goes like this "The use of snartphones in bed disturbs your sleep because the bright ligbt from the screen wakes you". Saying it like this sounds like it's not personal opinion whatsoever but a solid fact.
